Happy Friendship Day

It’s Valentine’s Day and I would like to wish everyone a happy and enjoyable day. Be safe and count your blessings. I’ve always agreed with those who feel that instead of calling it Valentine’s Day it should be called Friendship Day. That would make it more inclusive, so, Happy Friendship Day. Wouldn’t the world be a beautiful place if we were all friends? Well, yes, it would. Maybe one day if the human race ever gets its act together. Let’s keep the faith.

Speaking of friends, tomorrow is my oldest grandson’s birthday party, he’ll be turning four on Tuesday the seventeenth, and he’s (or rather his mom and dad) have invited twenty-two of his friends. Geesh, I wish I had twenty-two friends! At any rate, it should be a grand event….I think. It’s going to be held at MacDonald’s Playland about a five-minute drive from where we live. Now, when was the last time I was at a MacDonald’s you ask? Can’t remember. Like maybe an eternity ago. My guess would be thirty to thirty-five years ago when our two daughters were young. My wife and I have never been fast food people. For the most part we’ve tried to eat healthy homecooked meals over the years. Our daughters are the same way and this MacDonald’s Playland birthday part is because it was the only place around available which could accommodate that many people, kids and parents. We’ll survive, I suppose, and the kids will have a blast. Oliver’s mother, Brittany, our oldest daughter, has learned if you want to book a venue for a kid’s birthday you have to do it a year in advance, at least. There are lots of venues to have these parties at, it just that they are very popular and dates fill up fast. Nothing against MacDonald’s, to each their own and it will be great entertainment watching all the kids play.

On Oliver’s actual birthday, Tuesday, Vicky is going to make a cake shaped like a monster truck. He’ll be over the moon thrilled. He loves his monster trucks and Hotwheels. What little boy doesn’t? Most, I would assume. Vicky makes incredible birthday cakes for our two grandson’s birthdays. She should start up a business and laughs when I suggest that because we’re both in our seventies. Hey, what’s age got to do with it? Even though we’re both healthy, probably a lot. Anyway, some of the cakes she’s made in the past are a work of art, and tasty as well. Now then, happy birthday, Oliver. Have a great one.

 A great read.....
I have to go hug my dog now.

Anyone from the “Vietnam era” will identify with both the positive and negative effects of that lost war and its victims…troubled, they returned to an unappreciative country, trying to forget what they had witnessed or done. Sometimes, only the unconditional love of an animal can move them through their terrors.

Enjoyed it like a good movie,
didn't want it to end.

What an incredible book that had so many amazing messages and had me experience so many different emotions. I would strongly recommend this book to absolutely anyone. I can say with certainty that it is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I can’t wait to read his next book!!!
